Petrol prices up (again)

More bad news for motorists…. as if they weren’t punished enough, the price of petrol has gone up yet again.

Fuel duty went up by around 2p a litre at midnight. That, according to news reports, would push the average price of unleaded fuel up to around 98p a litre, while the price of diesel would be pushed beyond £1, although in some parts of the country, fuel for both types already surpassed that point.

Seven years ago, a collection of independent hauliers nearly brought the country to a standstill by blockading oil refineries for several days when the price of fuel, which had been steadily going up for many years, reached the average of 80p a litre. With the price now at record levels, and set to go higher, why aren’t they taking to the streets again?
