Football’s back!!!!

Hooray, the football season is back!

After another heavy summer of sport which were dominated by the Euros in Germany and the Olympics in France, it’s nice to get back to watching football both in the stadiums and through the TV. Although the EFL got under way last weekend, the real football starts when the Premier League returns on Friday.

Several players have switched sides, others have left altogether. There have also seen managerial changes at some clubs. Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton were promoted from the Championship, replacing Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United, who went down. It’s going to be another hard slog with 38 games for teams to navigate between now and next May. It’s increasing getting harder to predict who will win the league this season.

Here are some of my (terrible) predictions, and  I will revisit them at the end of the season:

TOP FOUR:

  • Manchester City (Champions)
  • Arsenal (Champions’ League)
  • Liverpool (Champions’ League)
  • Manchester United  (Champions’ League)

NEXT THREE:

  • Tottenham Hotspur (Europa League)
  • Chelsea (Europa League)
  • Aston Villa (Europa Conference League)

RELEGATED:

  • Ipswich Town
  • Southampton
  • Nottingham Forest

FIRST MANAGER TO BE DISMISSED: Julen Lopetegui (West Ham United)

LEAGUE CUP: Chelsea

FA CUP: Manchester City
